MY POETRY EXPERIENCE


I am Vietnamese lady. I liked poetry when I was in elementary school. I started to write at that time. I like to write the poems that make the readers feel those are from the true story. Almost all of my poems are from the true stories too. The rules to make the poems in Viet-Nam are different than in USA.
My experience about writing poetry is:
- When I have quiet time
- Early morning or midnight is the best.
- Sometime, I got inspiration up when I was happy or I was lonely.
I did not have a chance to learn the rules to do the poetry in Viet-Nam and in USA before the year 2004. In the fall semester 2004, I took the class to learn the rules to do poetry at Thomas Nelson and then I started to do some poems.
This is the first poem that I wrote in the class:
This class totals is 23
Some are on, some are off.
Especially, when paper is due.
Almost all students were out
Oh! Mine
I am here and turn in my paper
I hope I will pass!
And then the last poem in this class was:
My teacher is calm and intelligent
He keeps the class challenged
All homework should be done
Reading and reacting for lesson
Next day review and writing sentences (poems).
He checks to see what students have done
The class so smooth and silent
I will miss all these when the class is done.
